By virtue of the authority vested in me by section 179 of the Revised Statutes of the United States (5 U.S.C. 6), and as President of the United States, it is hereby ordered as follows: During the absence or sickness of the Postmaster General the officer whose name is highest on the following list and who is not absent or under disability to perform the duties of the office of Postmaster General shall perform the duties of that office: 1. Assistant Postmaster General Vincent C. Burke. 2. Assistant Postmaster General Paul Aiken. 3. Assistant Postmaster General Joseph J. Lawler. 4. Assistant Postmaster General Walter Myers. Unless otherwise directed by the President, this order shall cease to be effective upon the appointment and qualification of a Deputy Postmaster General pursuant to Reorganization Plan No. 3 of 1949.
