By virtue of and pursuant to the authority vested in me by section 179 of the Revised Statutes of the United States (5 U.S.C., sec. 6), I hereby authorize and direct the Under Secretary of the Interior to perform the duties of the Secretary of the Interior during the absence or sickness of the Secretary of the Interior; and I hereby further authorize and direct the First Assistant Secretary of the Interior, and in his absence or sickness the Assistant Secretary of the Interior, to perform the duties of the Secretary of the Interior during the absence or sickness of both the Secretary and the Under Secretary of the Interior. This order supersedes Executive Order No. 7198 of September 26, 1935. FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT The White House, January 17, 1936.
