By virtue of and pursuant to the authority vested in me by section 179 of the Revised Statutes (5 U.S.C., sec. 6), I hereby authorize and direct Dr. W. C. Mendenhall, Director of the Geological Survey, to perform the duties of the Secretary of the Interior during the absence or sickness from October 27, 1936 to November 3, 1936, inclusive, of the Secretary of the Interior, the Under Secretary of the Interior, the First Assistant Secretary of the Interior and the Assistant Secretary of the Interior. Executive Order No. 7277 of January 17, 1936, is modified accordingly. FRANKLIN D ROOSEVELT THE WHITE HOUSE, October 27, 1936.
