By virtue of and pursuant to the authority vested in me by Section 179 of the Revised Statutes of the United States (5 U.S.C., sec. 6), I hereby authorize and direct the Under Secretary of Agriculture to perform the duties of the Secretary of Agriculture during the absence or sickness of the Secretary of Agriculture; and I hereby further authorize and direct the Assistant Secretary of Agriculture, and in his absence or sickness the Chief of the Weather Bureau of the Department of Agriculture, to perform the duties of the Secretary of Agriculture during the absence or sickness of both the Secretary of Agriculture and the Under Secretary of Agriculture. This order supersedes Executive Order No. 6596 of February 9, 1934. FRANKLIN D ROOSEVELT THE WHITE HOUSE, October 6, 1936.
